Strategies For Combating Microaggressions In The Workplace
With companies experiencing higher attrition rates, it's important for leaders to re-examine their workplace culture and whether or not it promotes and fosters a culture of inclusion and belonging.
Agenda: Panel Discussion + Audience Q&A
Time: 9:00am - 10:00am PT
“High attrition rates are often linked to an incompatible or toxic workplace, and one-third of workers who left a job in the first 90 days said it was due to poor company culture,” stated by Employ Inc. Additionally, almost one-third of BIPOC employees have left their jobs due to a lack of diversity and inclusion at their companies, according to Savanta’s report.
Addressing microaggressions is a powerful and effective way to create more inclusive teams and reduce attrition rates, particularly from employees who are from historically marginalized groups. Microaggressions are defined as “the everyday, subtle, intentional — and oftentimes unintentional — interactions or behaviors that communicate some sort of bias toward historically marginalized groups.” Instances of microaggressions happen in everyday life, and can sometimes be overlooked or brushed aside. However, experiencing microaggressions in the workplace can have a significantly negative impact on an individual’s psychological safety and performance.
